Sam's Birthday Card

This adorable guy is a popcorn bear and he's one of three stamps that I won from the cuttlebug spot challenge blog! He's truly just too cute. I stamped the bear, duck, tag and bow twice to pop them up. These are very large stamps, they take up a whole regular A2 card. If you wanted to have a lot of embellishments a larger card is definitely necessary. I made this card for my son's girlfriend Sam's 21st birthday.

Stamp: Popcorn Bear birthday hugs
Paper: whisper white, taken with teal, concord crush
Ink: concord crush
Other: prisma markers, ribbon, Stampin Up ribbon slide, gold cord, perfect dots embossing folder, tag corner punch

This cute little girl is a free digi stamp from DZ Doodles. They had posted her on paper craft planet for any member to use and I've entered this card into their sketch challenge. Too bad they discontinued almost amethyst, lol and thank goodness I have a whole pack of that color!

King of the grill

Yesterday was my stamp-n-play date and this is what we did, it turned out Awesome! This is in the new Stampin up mini catalogue. I stamped him in basic black onto whisper white paper and coloured him. I cut out a mask (yes I cut out the steak, mustard and pepper grill, no I let the salt fend for himself it was too small!) and then sponged in the sky with bashful blue. I got the idea of the background (sky and ground) from splitcoaststampers. With nothing on the front its perfect for father's day or birthday. The background is the new texture embossing folder from Stampin up called square lattice. I love the stampin up folders they are larger than cuttlebugs!

Paper: basic black, basic gray, whisper white

Golfers Birthday

Isn't this guy great! I went shopping on the weekend and this is one of the stamps I bought! The inside of the card says "When the score gets too high...Stop Counting!" He'll be good for lots of my masculine cards.
Did you hear the news? Stampin' Up! is discontinuing 29 colours plus 2 neutrals! They are rearranging their colour families so that there will only be 3 families and the 4th one is neutrals! There are 10 colours in each family and some retired in-colours are coming back. All of this is called Stampin' Up Color Renovation! I'll miss some of the old colours and I plan on stocking up on my favorite colours like Mellow Moss. I do so much with it!! lol

Morning Marigold

This gorgeous marigold is from Stampin' Up! I haven't been water colouring for a while, you can tell my highlights aren't very good, I've always had trouble with highlights and painting. If anyone knows of a good website that gives tips on watercolouring please let me know in my comment section. I did this card for three challenges; the first one is Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential. The challenge was to make a birthday card the colour of my birthday. Mines in January so the colour would be garnet which is a deep red. Bravo burgandy comes close but doesn't have the gorgeous hue that a garnet has, but close, lol! The second challenge is on stamptv and is a sketch challenge. The third is One Stop Craft Challenge and that was to make something shine. I took the photo of my card on an angle so you can see the embossing on the background(which is shiny) and the glitter on the marigolds(which is also shiny). Great challenges!
Stamps: Stampin Up morning soft, Floral, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Vintage Vogue
Paper: Bravo burgandy, whisper white
Ink: Bravo burgandy, garden green, basic black, versamark

Happy Birthday Mom

Today would have been my Mom's 71st birthday. I bought this stamp set just so I could use this orchid, its just like the orchids mom had. Mom grew beautiful orchids of all colours with the blooms sometimes lasting 9 months! This card was also for a stamptv colour challenge to use the colours wine, yellow and kraft. If you haven't visited stamped smiles before, I've talked about Vicki and her fabulous site, you should head on over to her blog Stamped smiles she's giving away blog candy. She has an awesome site with great tutorials and gorgeous cards!

Glenda's Birthday card

I'm off to Tuscon in the morning for a week but I had to share this last birthday card I did today. The inside says "You're so screwed!" Glenda not only is still my friend but she loved the card. There were two challenges I had in mind when I made this card. The first was Saturday Spotlight with hidden potential and the challenge was to clean things up a bit. I chose to not sponge around the image, which is unusual for me and not to add any embellishments. The second challenge was from stamptv and was a sketch challenge. The only thing I changed was the oval, at stamptv its a circle, close enough.
Stamp: free digi stamp, computer generated sentiment
Paper: pixie pink, whisper white
Ink: primsa markers
Other: stampin up border punch, oval nestabilities, swiss dots embossing folder

Ken's birthday card

This card is for my Uncle, I'll be seeing him this week in Tuscon AZ. The inside says "It makes it harder for the vultures to land! I LOVE funny cards. I used a dp from Stampin up as the background. With most dp its much thinner than regular cardstock and has a white core so when I embossed it the white showed through. Now I have a design on paper, an embossed design AND white added to it. Great background!
Stamps: Stampin up Golden Oldies, computer generated sentiment
Paper: navy, dp from Stampin up, whisper white
Ink: bashful blue, bordering blue, blush blossom
Other: ribbon, nestabilities label 4, ribbon

You know your old when...

This is Robin's birthday card! I LOVE this set! The inside says "everything hurts- and what doesn't hurt doesn't work." There is a tutorial on stamp tv that shows you how to do a decorative edge with the scor-pal, great tool. Very rarely do I do a person just on white paper anymore. I love creating a wall and floor, its easy and I think makes the image better. Just mask off the image stamp 3/4 down for the wall ( I used weathered this time but I also like simple strips for wallpaper) You can add a rug or just sponge for a floor.
Stamp: Gina K Tickle your funny bone
Paper: Navy, Bashful blue, cameo coral, whisper white
Ink: navy, cameo coral, watercolours
Other: ticket corner punch, brads, ribbon, scor-pal

Birthday wishes

This card was done for a challenge at Squigglefly stamps at SNR universe here. A free digital stamp was given, the bunny and cupcake, and two challenges were issued. One was the colour challenge which I had already done with the shy bear and the other a sketch challenge. I very rarely do kids cards so this was definitely a challenge for me. I found that the colour challenge pink, yellow and brown worked well with this digi as well so I used them again.

Paper: summer sun, chocolate chip, regal rose, whisper white
Ink: regal rose, summer sun, pretty in pink
Other: brads, ribbon, oval punch, circle punch, swiss dots embossing folder candy cane embossing folder

Mark's birthday

OK the first photo is obviously my son cutting onions. He thought he'd get no tears while wearing his skiing mask. LOL, he was right, silly kid! The second is a card I made for a friend of Steven's. The inside says " Lucky for you I was at the card shop, huh?" This is a digital stamp that I printed onto photo paper. The paper grabs the ink and its dry now, no blending, so better not make mistakes. On one of the images I tried to emboss it. Wow that was a mistake. You really can't emboss with photo paper. Its thick enough but it dries the versamark almost instantly. I thought my pen was dry until I tried it on another paper! Sooo I threw out that image and started again.
Stamps: free digital (can't remember from who, sorry), water stamp- stampscapes
Paper: Brilliant blue, summer sun, Kodak photo paper
Ink: bashful blue, ballet blue, summer sun, barely banana, certainly celery, more mustard, craft white
